Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Area is a protected landscape in southwestern Illinois covering about 20,000 acres in St. Clair, Monroe, and Randolph counties. Managed as an Illinois state park and conservation area, it is centered partly on Baldwin Lake. One of its most distinctive features, Baldwin Lake is a perched cooling pond overseen by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for fishing. The area serves both habitat conservation and outdoor recreation, with Baldwin Lake remaining one of its principal fishing destinations.
