Little Gap Covered Bridge, near Little Gap in Lower Towamensing Township, Pennsylvania, crosses Buckwah Creek and preserves the region’s 19th-century rural road-building tradition. Built around 1860, its 73-foot span uses a Burr truss with elements of the Howe truss, reflecting the practical timber bridge engineering of its time. The bridge has long been tied to the local landscape and identity, even lending its name to the nearby Covered Bridge Inn. Though damaged in a 2011 hit-and-run incident, it remains a local landmark and a surviving example of the covered spans once commonly used to carry rural roads across Pennsylvania creeks.
