Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, began as Santa Claus Land in 1946 after Louis J. Koch envisioned a place where visiting children could meet Santa year-round. Under the Koch family, it grew from a small Christmas attraction into a broader family amusement park with holiday-themed sections, then added Splashin' Safari in 1993. The park became especially prominent for acclaimed wooden roller coasters such as Raven, The Legend, and The Voyage, and for record-setting water coasters including Wildebeest and Mammoth. Its national reputation was strengthened by industry awards, distinctive free unlimited soft drinks, and a strong family-focused identity.
