George Louis Dramis served with the 3rd Squad, 2nd Plt., Golf Company, Battalion Landing Team 2/8 during Operation "Urgent Fury," the Grenada invasion. On November 16, 1983, he showed outstanding alertness, diligence, and selflessness during operations ashore on Grenada, repeatedly demonstrating alertness and attention to detail. He was responsible for discovering a potential tunnel opening under Fort Frederick and maintained an alert outpost at all times when his platoon was short on food and water. He was put in charge of a detail that gathered fruit for the platoon, materially contributing to the platoon's welfare. Dramis was the subject of a meritorious mast and promotion on December 4, 1983. On January 30, 1984, during the longest and heaviest mortar attack at the Beriut, Lebanon Airport, L/CPL Dramis was fatally shot in the chest by a sniper's bullet, becoming the last Marine killed in actual combat, No. 259.
