George Poe was a Revolutionary Patriot who served as a captain in the 34th Battalion of the Frederick County, Maryland, Militia in 1775-1776. He was the brother of Gen. David Poe, Deputy Quartermaster General, and the great uncle of Edgar Allan Poe.
