Overton County Courthouse is the third courthouse erected at this location. It was built in 1868-69 by "Little Joe" Copeland for a total consideration of $9,999.99. Vaults were added and minor repairs were completed in 1934. In 1957, the cornice was replaced and other minor repairs were completed. The interior of the structure was completely renovated in 1978-79.
