The Marshall household stood as the last residence on West Main Street before the crossing of the small stream called Coal Lick Run. The rented home included a barn, what the family called "the orchard," a carriage house, four large apple trees, a brick spring house, "a very crude shack" where George kept his rabbits, and a grapevine just outside his bedroom window off the second floor. On summer mornings, George pulled down bunches of delicious concord grapes. The house was torn down early in the 20th century, and the site later held the West End Theater and then Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47.
