William S. Hart Park and Museum preserves the former ranch and home of Western silent film actor and director William S. Hart. Visitors may enjoy a large picnic area, farm animals, a herd of American bison, hiking trails, campgrounds, a Western-themed gift store, and Heritage Junction, a collection of historic buildings significant to the Santa Clarita Valley. The museum is a Spanish Colonial Revival mansion on the hill, where docent-led tours feature Hart’s collection of Western artwork by Charles M. Russell, Frederic Remington, and Joe de Yong, along with early Hollywood costumes and props, personal furnishings and effects, and artifacts representing multiple Native American cultures. Just inside the gate, the historic 1910 Ranch House displays Hart’s tack and saddle collection, personal furnishings, and additional Hollywood memorabilia. The park opened in 1958 and is registered as California Point of Historical Interest No. 564.
