Benham Mound is a Native American earthwork in present-day Amberley Village in southwestern Ohio, set on a hilltop above a tributary valley near U.S. Route 22. Nineteenth-century and later measurements record it as a substantial mound, though they differ on its exact size. Partial excavations by local residents in the late nineteenth century uncovered mica and stone tools such as axes, scrapers, chisels, and flint projectile points. These finds, along with the mound’s form and setting, have led archaeologists to identify it with the Hopewell tradition. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, it remains an important surviving mound site in the Cincinnati area.
