Little High Rock Canyon Wilderness
History
Little High Rock Canyon Wilderness in Nevada is a federally protected desert area managed by the Bureau of Land Management, south of High Rock Canyon Wilderness and west of High Rock Lake Wilderness in the Black Rock Desert–High Rock Canyon region. It is also linked to the winter of 1911, when Mike Daggett and his band camped there, killed cattle after running short of food, and then killed a cattleman and three sheepmen when the missing stock was investigated. Pursued to Kelley Creek near Winnemucca, the group was defeated there; Daggett and seven of his band died, along with one posse member, and only four children from the band survived.
