Baptist Church Stepping Stone
Faith
1
A stone served as a step for the Baptist Church built in 1831 on the lot across Route 6 from the museum. The church building was sold to the town in 1899, and the town used it until 1932 as a gymnasium, primarily as a basketball court. In 1932 the building was torn down, and the stone sat unused until 1959, when it was used as a base for the town's new World War II memorial. When the monument was relocated in 1992, the stone again sat unused until it was moved to the museum in 2021.
