Created to promote international cooperation, mutual prosperity, world peace, and friendship between the United States of America and Japan, the Partners Park Friendship Garden represents Marysville's cultural and industry connection to its Friendship City, Yorii Town, Saitama, Japan. A Declaration of Friendship signed by Yorii Mayor Makoto Shimada and Marysville Mayor John Gore on December 2, 2013 fostered the relationship between the two communities and aimed to further develop their historical, cultural, educational, and industry bonds. Yorii Town gifted a garden stone and cherry blossom tree to the City of Marysville to further strengthen the relationship between the two communities.
