Riverview Terrace Restaurant, a Frank Lloyd Wright design near Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin, was conceived in 1953 as a riverside restaurant that would blend with the landscape. Construction began in 1954, and although the roof was in place by 1957, the building remained unfinished when Wright died in 1959. After the Wisconsin River Development Corporation bought it in 1966, it was completed and opened the next year as The Spring Green restaurant. Later converted for visitor use, it has served since 1994 as the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center for Taliesin tours. Its organic design and use of local limestone tie it closely to the surrounding countryside and riverscape.
