Tan-y-Deri is a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house built in 1907 on his Taliesin estate near Wyoming, Wisconsin, for his sister Jane Porter, her husband Andrew, and their family. Adapted from Wright’s “A Fireproof House for $5,000” into a more economical rural home with cedar shingles, it reflected the Welsh heritage of the Lloyd Jones family; its name means “under the oaks.” The house became entwined with Taliesin’s history, serving as triage space after the 1914 attack and fire. Later folded fully into the Taliesin estate, it is one of five Wright buildings there and has housed Taliesin community members while undergoing restoration.
