Bieker-Wilson is an archaeological village site in the lower Wabash valley of southeastern Illinois, near New Haven, on river bottomland reshaped by shifts in the Wabash River. Identified in 1972 and studied further in 1973 through survey and surface collection, it showed no visible ruins but clear evidence of a substantial settlement, including a large midden. Artifacts indicate repeated occupation during the Middle and Late Woodland periods and by later Mississippian peoples, spanning at least five hundred years and possibly more than a millennium. Its possible connection to the poorly understood Duffy Complex gives it unusual importance for understanding regional prehistory and the transition into the Mississippian world.
