Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial reflects the nation’s respect and reverence for Abraham Lincoln through the Indiana farm of his father, Thomas Lincoln, the marked gravesite of his mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, the preserved site of one of the Lincoln cabins, and the Memorial Building completed in 1943. The building honors Lincoln’s Indiana roots with two memorial halls and five sculptured limestone panels marking significant stages in his life. Abraham Lincoln spent 14 of the most formative years of his life on this Indiana farm, from age 7 to 21, between 1816 and 1830, when he grew both physically and intellectually.
