Shelter for Lincolns
History
5
In the autumn of 1816, the family of Abraham Lincoln, then 7 years old and migrating to Indiana, rested and recuperated for about three weeks in a cabin that stood near here, where local residents gave them food. Their route in Kentucky started near Hodgenville and went through Elizabethtown, Vine Grove, Harned, this place, and on to Cloverport and the river ferry, and the Lincolns traveled by ox-cart.
