Carrie Glacier lies in Washington’s Olympic Mountains within Olympic National Park, between Mount Carrie and Mount Fairchild. Beginning at about 6,800 feet, it descends generally northward across high slopes, with its course shaped by the surrounding terrain. After dropping from its upper reaches, the ice meets a cliff, where one branch spills over a steep rock wall and feeds a neighboring glacier while the main body turns north-northeast to avoid the drop. That main section passes through a chute between an arête and Mount Fairchild before ending around 5,000 feet. The glacier was named from Mount Carrie and is part of the central Olympics’ compact but rugged glacial landscape.
