Belchertown dedicated a memorial at its bicentennial on September 23, 1961, A.D., in grateful memory of its sons and daughters who answered their country’s call in its hour of need, honoring those who made the supreme sacrifice in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and preserving the names of many more from the town who served in World War I, World War II, and Korea with the promise that, wherever they sleep in distant clime or on this friendly hill, their memories will live ever green in hearts that hold them still.
