In 1907, Herman C. Bartelt purchased what was then known as the Willow Brook Hotel from Ellen Hayne, widow of William Harvey Hayne, who had bought the property sometime before 1900. Located at Corona Corners until Corona Road was moved, the property was associated with Hayne, whose profession was listed in the 1900 census as saloon keeper. Around 1920, G. F. Lieder bought the inn and operated it as a general store, petrol station, and motor inn through 1934. Over the years, it served as a stagecoach stop, a saloon, an inn, a motor inn, a general store and petrol station, and, into the early 1960s, a hotel with hourly room rentals, and it is presently under its current ownership as The Willow Brook Ale House. It was also an important stop on the Indian Redwood Marathon held in 1927 and 1928, which ran from the steps of City Hall in San Francisco to Grant’s Pass, Oregon along the Redwood Highway.
