75 mm Pack Howitzer on M8 Carriage
Military
1
The 75 mm Pack Howitzer was first adopted by the U.S. Army in 1927 and was designed to be broken down into six components and transported by a team of mules, allowing it to be used in rugged terrain inaccessible to wheeled vehicles. Its mobility increased greatly when it was placed on the M8 carriage, which made it airmobile by both parachute and glider. The 75 mm first saw action in the Philippines in 1942, later served in the Italian Campaign and throughout the Western Front, and continues to serve the Missouri National Guard in a ceremonial role under its current designation, the M120 Pack Howitzer.
