Shepherd of the Hills State Park is an undeveloped Missouri state park of 1,011 acres in Taney County in the Ozarks, near the setting of Harold Bell Wright’s novel The Shepherd of the Hills. Announced in 2016 as Ozark Mountain State Park, it was renamed on May 4, 2022, to emphasize its local literary connection. The park remains closed while future uses are considered. Its landscape includes more than two miles of Roark Creek, part of the East Fork Roark Creek, and land adjoining the Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area. A surviving one-room schoolhouse from Garber preserves a visible link to earlier settlement.
