Sherpa Peak is an 8,630-foot granite summit in Washington’s Alpine Lakes Wilderness, in the Stuart Range near Mount Stuart and Argonaut Peak. Its north side holds the Sherpa Glacier, and its runoff flows into either Mountaineer Creek or Ingalls Creek before ultimately reaching the Wenatchee River. The peak was named for a local climbing club active in the area in the 1950s, and the name became official in 1988 through the U.S. Board on Geographic Names. Rising from the Mount Stuart batholith, it reflects the tectonic, volcanic, and glacial forces that shaped the North Cascades into a rugged alpine landscape.
