Argonaut Peak is a prominent granite mountain in Washington’s Stuart Range within the Enchantments of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. At 8,453 feet, it ranks as the state’s 65th highest peak and stands on the crest between Colchuck Peak and Sherpa Peak near Mount Stuart. The mountain is known for its severe granite form, with southeast and west summits of nearly equal height, a notable southeast spire, and steep faces dropping toward Ingalls Creek and Mountaineer Creek. Part of the Mount Stuart batholith, it helps define this rugged section of the Cascades. Its first recorded ascent was made in September 1955 by Lex Maxwell, Bob McCall, and Bill Prater.
