Plaikni Falls is a waterfall in Crater Lake National Park in southern Oregon, along East Rim Drive near the south end of Mount Scott. It drops from a glacier-carved cliff of petrified volcanic ash left by the eruption of Mount Mazama. Though set within one of the park’s best-known landscapes, it became much more widely visited after an easy, wheelchair-accessible 1-mile trail opened in 2011. The route passes through old-growth fir and hemlock forest rich with wildflowers and ends with full views of the cascade. Its Native American name means “from the high country,” reflecting its setting above the Crater Lake basin.
