Crystal Springs Dam has continued to provide the critical link in delivering water to the people of the San Francisco Peninsula. Its centennial was observed on this spot on October 3, 1990, by joint resolution of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the City and County of San Francisco, with officials including Board President Tom Huening, members Anna Eshoo, Mary Griffin, Tom Nolan, and William Schumacher, Mayor Art Agnos, Public Utilities Commission President Rodel E. Rodis, Vice President Sherri Chiesa, H. Welton Flynn, Arthur V. Toupin, Public Utilities General Manager Thomas J. Elzey, and Water Department General Manager John Mullane.
