Ormond Plantation
History
6
Ormond Plantation, upriver of Little Red Church, was seen here in 1859 and was known to have been spared destruction during the Civil War. Destrehan Plantation, Red Church's downriver neighbor, was also spared destruction during the Civil War. Today, Ormond Plantation and Destrehan Plantation remain standing sentinel to St. Charles Borromeo Church along the Mile of History, as they have for centuries, and the ancient live oaks on these three properties reflect their unique bond.
