Chief Logan recalled that he had fed the hungry and clothed those who came to him in need, including white visitors, and said that during a long and bloody war he had remained for peace and had been known among his own people as a friend of the white man. He said he had even thought of living with whites until, in the last spring, Colonel Cresap murdered all of Logan's relatives in cold blood and without provocation, including his women and children. Logan said this drove him to revenge, that he had killed many and satisfied his vengeance, yet he rejoiced for his country at the coming of peace and insisted that his feelings were not born of fear, declaring that Logan never felt fear and would not turn to save his life. He ended by saying that no one remained to mourn for Logan.
