Raven Cliff Falls, on Matthews Creek in Caesars Head State Park in northwestern South Carolina, is widely recognized as the tallest waterfall in the state. Although it is often said to drop 400 feet, topographic maps suggest a height closer to 320 to 350 feet. Despite that uncertainty, its great scale is unquestioned, and it remains one of South Carolina’s most prominent natural landmarks. Known today chiefly for its scenic beauty, the falls are a notable destination within the Blue Ridge escarpment landscape, distinguished by both their impressive height and dramatic setting.
