Skutz Falls is a waterfall on the Cowichan River on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, just upstream from Marie Canyon. Its name comes from a Cowichan dialect of Halkomelem word meaning “waterfall.” Instead of a single vertical drop, it consists of steep rapids descending about 20 feet. The falls once blocked fish moving upstream, but fish ladders built beside them allowed passage, and during salmon spawning season the site is known for watching salmon climb past the obstacle. The surrounding area is also a summer recreation destination, with calmer water below for swimming and inner tubing and a nearby campground.
