Mount Lebanon Shaker Village in New Lebanon, New York, was established in 1787 as a communal Shaker settlement and became the site of the Shakers’ Central Ministry. As it expanded across several thousand acres and housed hundreds of Believers, it emerged as an important center within the Shaker movement. The village remains significant today through ongoing preservation of the historic site, including restoration of buildings from the former Shaker North Family. Its connection to the relocated Shaker Museum and Library also ties the surviving community directly to the preservation and interpretation of Shaker history.
