In Howes Cave, New York, this nonprofit institution is devoted to the culture and history of the Haudenosaunee, or Iroquois, in the historic Mohawk homeland. Opened in 1981 and established at its present site in 1992, it was designed as a traditional longhouse, reflecting a form central to Iroquois family and community life.
