McCauley Hot Springs is a thermal spring in northern New Mexico’s Santa Fe National Forest near Jemez Springs, also known as McCauley Warm Springs and Battleship Rock Hot Springs. Along a geothermal band on the edge of the dormant Valles Caldera, it is reached by a four-mile hike from Battleship Rock Campground and is closed in winter. In a forest clearing among ponderosa pines, warm mineral water emerges at about 99°F into a shallow spring and primitive pool, then flows downhill through several deeper pools, cooling as it goes. A rock dam pool built by the Civilian Conservation Corps helped shape one basin, while the site remains a simple backcountry soaking area tied to its volcanic setting.
