Spence Hot Springs is a cluster of geothermal springs north of Jemez Springs in northern New Mexico, within Valles Caldera National Preserve, near Soda Dam and the edge of the collapsed supervolcano. On a hillside above the Jemez River, the springs form a rugged natural soaking area where water rises through the volcanic landscape and fills small pools of varying temperatures. The main spring emerges at about 109°F, with lower pools cooling to about 100°F and 95°F, and additional springs lie uphill. The site is valued for its dramatic setting and natural hot mineral water, but overuse has caused resource damage, and Naegleria fowleri has been detected in the warm water.
