Jemez Falls is the highest waterfall in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico, within the Santa Fe National Forest. On the East Fork of the Jemez River, it drops about 70 feet through a ponderosa pine landscape, with smaller falls just upstream. The cascade is especially powerful after recent snowmelt, when the water flows more heavily and twists at the bottom. A trail from the Jemez Falls Campground and day-use area leads to an overlook at the end of the route. The campground stands at about 7,880 feet above sea level, and the nearby river also supports fishing and whitewater kayaking.
