Windham honored the patriotism and valor of its officers and men who served their country and humanity in the World War from 1917 to 1919, going forth in their country’s hour of need to meet toil, privation, and suffering with steady courage and high resolve. They served at Chemin des Dames, Pargny-Filain, Fort de la Malmaison, the Toul Sector, Seicheprey, Xivray, Marvoisin, Bois de Jury, the Chateau Thierry Sector, the Aisne-Marne Offensive, Vaux, Bouresches, Triangle Farm, Hill 190, Trugny, Epieds, Forêt de Fère, the St. Mihiel Offensive, Forêt de la Montagne, Hattonchatel, Heudicourt, Vigneulles, the Troyon Sector, Marchéville, Wadonville, Saulx, St. Hilaire, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, Boise de Brabant sur Meuse, Boise de la Reine, Boise d’Ormont, Molleville Farm, Boise des Caures-Beaumont, and on various battlefields of Europe during the Great War.
