From 1917 to 1919, the citizens of Bradley Beach honored the community's noble heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in World War I and its valiant sons who courageously served in the war. The monument committee included Mayor Frank C. Borden, Jr., chairman, Bernard V. Poland, Rev. R.A Conover, John Rogers, Rev. John J. O'Hara, Clarence W. Smith, secretary, Rev. John W. Lynch, Wm. E. MacDonald, Prof. E.S. Wood, and A.T. Rogers.
