The first dairy barn owned by William Henry Bogart stood on the original 158 acre Bogart "Old Home Place," purchased by his father, Aiken Bogart, in 1908. William Henry Bogart, an early Northeast Tarrant County dairy leader, married Effie Rutledge of Grapevine in 1917, and they built a house next to the home of his parents, Aiken and Lucy Bogart. He expanded his holdings of land and Jersey cattle and imported a Jersey bull from the Isle of Jersey, which was named Grand Champion at the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show in 1924. During the 1920s, Bogart became active in the Texas and American Jersey Cattle Clubs, promoting improved dairy practices and wholesome milk for consumers. By 1929, the Bogarts owned about 800 Jerseys, operated four farms, and owned the Golden Gate Dairy bottling plant on East Belknap Street in Fort Worth. With help from Texas A&M Extension Dairy Specialist E.R. Eudaly, Bogart encouraged local farm families to enter the dairy business, helping many area residents through the Great Depression of the early 1930s. In 1935, the Fort Worth Press named the Pleasant Run-Bransford communities of Northeast Tarrant County the "Dairy Center of Tarrant County." After William Henry Bogart's death in 1956, Effie kept ownership of the Old Home Place property until her death in 1969.
