Children's Museum of Tacoma, a nonprofit in Tacoma, Washington, was founded in 1985 and opened in 1986 to give children hands-on opportunities to learn through active exploration. In 2012 it moved to a larger venue and adopted a pay-as-you-will admission policy that emphasized accessibility. Its play spaces center on Woods, Water, and Voyager. Under executive director Tanya Durand, who began in 2000, the museum expanded beyond its main site. Later partnerships created The Muse in 2015 for university families, and major funding in 2018 and 2020 supported converting a skating rink at Joint Base Lewis-McChord into a second children's museum.
