Ann and Blibal Betor had a general store here as early as 1898. Mr. Betor was a rug peddler when he first migrated to the USA from Lebanon. The store included dry goods, gent's furnishings, children's ware, and notions, and it was remembered as having nice things for the ladies too. The building was originally wood, but it burned in a city-wide fire at the turn of the century and was reconstructed of stone shortly after. In the 1940's the stone buildings were used as the Cotton Club Saloon and Dance Hall. They had several other occupants through the 1950's and 1960's, after which they were abandoned. Restoration began on the buildings in 2004 and was completed in 2018.
