Chapel Brook is a small stream in Ashfield and Conway, Massachusetts, flowing through the Deerfield River watershed to Long Island Sound. Its best-known feature is Chapel Falls, three cascades within a 173-acre preserve that also includes Pony Mountain, or Chapel Ledge, with granite cliffs and wooded views. The area changed from cleared colonial farmland and sheep pasture to protected open space. Around the falls once stood gristmills and a two-room schoolhouse that served as a Methodist chapel on Sundays, giving the brook its name. The reservation began in 1964 with a memorial land donation and later grew through purchases and additional gifts.
