The New England Wireless and Steam Museum in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, preserves electrical and mechanical history through operating machinery, early wireless technology, archival collections, and historic buildings. Founded in 1964 under Robert Merriam, it includes five buildings, among them the Massie Wireless Station, known as PJ, built in 1907 and regarded as the oldest surviving working wireless station in the world. Moved from Point Judith in 1982 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, it reflects the early history of radio. The museum also holds the only surviving George H. Corliss engine still running under steam and was designated an engineering history landmark in 1992.
