In March 1998, a tornado took the lives of Austin W. Simerly, Tonja R. Simerly, Calvin Little Jr., Bobbie Sue Hoenie, Ronald Underwood, Danny Lee Barham, Ray Edward Foster Jr., E. Whitney Strickland, John Perry Stapp, Joseph Lee Boring, Matthew Steven Boring, Hayley Michelle Wilson, and Jesse McLendon, and the community vowed never to forget them, holding that to live in their hearts is to truly never die.
