Brock Cemetery, located 40 rods west of this spot and established before 1812, is the burial place of Salem's early settlers, including members of the Brock, Kemp, and Henderson families, as well as John Zink, a ranger with Col. Dawalt who was fatally wounded by Indians after the Pigeon Roost Massacre.
