Cambridge Springs
History
4
Between 1884 and 1915, Cambridge Springs was a major health resort founded on its mineral springs. After Dr. John H. Gray discovered spring water on his farm, he began prescribing and marketing it in 1884. By the early 1900s, about forty inns and resort hotels were operating there, including the Hotel Rider and the Riverside Inn, and passenger trains arrived daily. Changes in medical practices eventually ended the resort's heyday.
