Benbrack, or the Irish Binn Bhreac meaning “Speckled Peak,” is a 582-metre mountain in Connemara, County Galway, standing on its own small massif just north of the main Twelve Bens in Connemara National Park. Its name is linked to the quartzite stones and boulders scattered across its summit. Though only the 10th-tallest of the core Twelve Bens, its prominence gives it distinctive standing in the landscape. Set among glacial valleys, ridges, Kylemore Lough, and neighboring tops such as Knockbrack and a smaller Benbaun, it is well known as a walking mountain and valued for wide views across one of Connemara’s most varied mountain settings.
