John Callaham, born in Virginia in 1770, migrated to South Carolina in 1790 and died at Level Land in 1855. His first wife, Nancy Jarrett, was the mother of twelve children, and three of those children married sons of Zachariah Carwile. His second wife, Nancy Pinson, was the mother of eleven children. He donated land for the Little River Church property. Zachariah Carwile was born in Goochland County, Virginia, in 1750 and died at Level Land in 1841. He lies in an unmarked grave in this cemetery. A soldier of the Revolutionary War, he fought at King's Mountain and Blackstocks and was in a skirmish with Tories and British on Hog Skin Creek near the Alewines Mill site. He married Mary McMahon, and they were the parents of nine children. They were pioneers who settled along Little River near this spot and were remembered for their devotion and service to country and to God.
