This famous Black Walnut tree provided the nuts that started more than 100 walnut groves in California. It also gave shade to travelers and their teams as they enjoyed the Wykoff Ranch hospitality and the cool water well nearby. It is said to have been planted when Burt Wykoff was born in 1886, and Uncle Burt deeded that the tree was to remain in place until it dies. Uncle Burt is gone, but his tree lives on.
