Life of all types abounds in the Big Thicket, where multiple habitats converge in southeast Texas. This national preserve protects an incredible diversity of life across nine different ecosystems, from longleaf pine forests to cypress-lined bayous. Hiking trails and waterways meander through it, making it a place of discovery, wandering, exploration, and marveling at the richness of nature. Big Thicket National Preserve is generally very hot and humid during the spring and summer, while winters are mild, and snow and subfreezing temperatures are uncommon.
