Floyd County area veterans have honorably served, are currently serving, or will serve in the uniformed services of the United States during peacetime, conflict, or war. Their duty, honor, and sacrifice reflect the effort of local veterans to ensure our way of life and stand as a reminder that freedom is not free. The oath of enlistment pledges support and defense of the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, true faith and allegiance to it, obedience to the orders of the President of the United States and appointed officers according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and concludes with the words, So help me God.
